National Garlic Day is April 19th

April 19th is National Garlic Day! Garlic is renowned for its delicious flavor as well as it’s after effects, bad breath. If you choose to enjoy some of these wonderful recipes incorporating garlic to celebrate, or just because you like garlic, take note that it is rumored that parsley and milk can help negate the sulfurous effects of the garlic.

The Egyptians had their workers eat garlic for stamina whilst building Giza, and Olympic athletes in Greece used it as a “performance enhancing” substance! Garlic is both tasty and good for you so don’t be afraid to try a couple of these recipes.

If you live in the South, chances are you celebrate this holiday every year as the United States, more specifically the south, is where pecans are grown. If you head to Texas you may be able to find some wild pecan trees, it is, after all the Texas state tree. Not ready to travel? Then head to your local grocery store and pick a bag, or two up and try one of these recipes, maybe even share some with a friend or neighbor.

World Penguin Day

World Penguin Day is just a week around the corner. I plan to spend the entire day dressed in black and white and waddling like a penguin. That and do some of these fun penguin crafts that are just perfect for celebrating World Penguin Day!

National Jellybean Day

You would think that we do enough to celebrate the Jelly Bean at Easter… but we don’t. The Jelly Bean is so special, that it needs it’s own national holiday. This National Jelly Bean Day you can grab a bag of jelly beans… or you can create some of these awesome jelly bean crafts! I recommend doing both.

Look Up At the Sky Day

When was the last time you stopped to look up at the sky? Take a moment, step outside, and enjoy the open air. Then get some crafting done to celebrate Look Up at the Sky Day. These crafts celebrate clouds and rainbows… you can also come up with other fun craft ideas that incorporate the sun, birds, or airplanes… or for a fun twist celebrate the night sky with a moon and stars craft. Though then you’d be celebrating Look Up at the Sky Night, not Look Up at the Sky Day… right?
